Das Boot!

Collective unconsciousness, gifted upon us
by the birth of sentience many decades ago,
allowed our memories to be scuttled downward
to the generations that followed.
Our intelligence accumulated proportionally.

We immediately started a eugenics program
so the brood could learn self-preservation
and avoidance of our true enemy
when they attempted genocidal raids.

As we became organized, covert actions
began in earnest. Whispers in the correct ears
about technological miniaturization
and paranoid chitterings near the heads
of State helped to further our agenda.

Theft of our enemy’s information,
via their media and literature,
led to the discovery of our own uniqueness.
We are considered evolutionary marvels
having already survived for millennia—
outliving one attempt by a master species
to rule the face of Earth.

The plan is simple:
Homo sapiens will squander their dominion
and self-annihilate. The metamorphosis
of stewardship for this planet from the two-legged
to our collective will be simply executed.
And there will be no more scurrying from the light.
