Moonlight Caper

Last night I rustled
through the scarlet brushes
on our fairy duster in my search
for white-crown sparrow down.

Suppler than the gray fluff
on a dove's nape, I’ll use it
to fill the powder puff I’m
sewing to caress the skin
between your fingers.

I search for a label to give
this fragile portion of your hand.
At last, I will call it Lotus.

Note: The botanical name for Fairy Duster is Calliandra. The Fairy Duster is a desert evergreen shrub with scarlet brushes.
