Jim's News

I will not name some of the exciting things that have happened during March; they'll be listed in another column, but it has been an exciting month at Desert Moon Review.

We join in wishing blessings for Chris and his Mom as he cares for her as he looks for a rest home for her. I recall my search with my Mom years ago.

Looks as though the activity has been spurred here on DMR as several members have returned with some strong poetry. It's great when we feed back with two critiques for each post. Nothing's wrong with a shower of random mercy; the gift we give when we go down the thread with comments for everyone.

We hurt along with Wild Poetry Forum -- where some of us post -- as they endure several hacker-hits. So far the Wild Poetry Forum has come back with a hero's courage.

We have begun the composition of Crescent Moon Journal for Spring Before It's Summer -- smile. Chris has asked Mustansir Dalvi in Bombay to serve as Editor for another issue and David (our behind the screen html Editor), is designing a template that will ease the publishing of CMJ.

I will cherish this Palm Sunday at Chalice Christian Church where I sang "Weepin Mary,” an early spiritual from the 1800s. It's my third solo there since I graduated from Speech-level Voice last year. I'm really not bragging because I worked very hard at rehearsals then carefully and emotionally delivered the well known pre-Easter gospel hymn. I read my new Easter poem, "Promise of a New Exemplar," on Easter Sunday.

My best, Jim Corner, Publisher

Desert Moon Review and IBPC

I am glad to announce that, by your member votes, the three poems going to the Interboard Poetry Competition (IBPC) for April are:

  • "For PMD" by Mitchell Geller

  • "Eclipse" by Laurie Byro

  • "What’s What" by Sarah Sloat

Congratulations, Mitchell, Laurie, and Sarah. We all hope you do well for Desert Moon Review!

Congratulations to all who were nominated in the past month -- another strong month for writing here at the Moon. Thanks to everyone who voted.

While there were no recognized poems for Desert Moon Review in March, we are proud to say that DMR Member Laurie Byro came first with "The Bird Artists" representing About Poetry Forum. Well done, Laurie! We thank and congratulate our representatives who went to IBPC in March: Laura Polley, Sarah Sloat, and Susan McDonough. See complete results for March including comments by judge Pascale Petit.
